Imagine Hillsboro began in May 2015 by a group of impassioned citizens and a program facilitated by the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University. The program, "MAPPING the Future of Your Community", resulted in the ongoing, ever-improving Imagine Hillsboro. The committees include the Technology committee, the Parks and Rec committee, the Volunteer committee, the Education committee, and the the Events and Festivals committee, and the Bicentennial Committee.
